Cross-links? (Office 2003)

I need help:
I am writing a document in Word 2003, and want to insert a (link ?) which when clicked will open a separated Excel 2003 spreadsheet, and point to a specific cell.
I also want to have the means to click in that specific spreadsheet cell and return to the Word document.
I imagine I am not inventing the wheel, and believe this must be a very common scenario, possible to achieve.
In Word 2003 I tried to insert an Hyperlink, but doesn't seem to work (or if it does, I didn't use it properly).
Inserting Bookmarks requires (if my understanding is correct), both documents to be merged, what I cannot do.
So, the first help I need, is to know what is the name of the tool doing what I want; as I believe that from there I could manage.
If additionally someone could provide some guidance, I will very much appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Daniel Rozenberg.

Re: Cross-links? (Office 2003)

Create a bookmark in the Word doc for the location you want to jump back to from Excel, say MyBookmark.

Use Insert | Hyperlink... to create a hyperlink to the Excel workbook (it must have been saved to disk).
Manually add the worksheet and cell you want to activate in the address box, separated from the filename with #:

C:...MyWorkbook.xls#MySheet!H5

In Excel, use Insert | Hyperlink to create a hyperlink to the Word document (it must have been saved to disk).
Manually add the bookmark in the address box, separated from the filename with #:

C:...MyDocument.doc#MyBookmark

I tried Object Linking and Embedding, and seems to do what I want.
Nevertheless, the request for help still holds:
I am on the right track?
Does anybody know of a better way to do it?
Again, thanks in advance.

Hi Hans,

Your reply must have come while I was editing my second note; as I just saw it.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for your guidance.
Will try it and let you know.

Best regards,

Danile Rozenberg.
