Office 2003 Rollout (Office Pro 2003)

Some help needed with the choices for Office 2003 Pro rollout please?

Our organisation is rolling out new hardware with XP SP2 and Office Pro 2003 (using Ghost disk imaging). We are currently using Office 97, so the whole installation process is very different to what we are used to. Having read through the Deployment sections of Microsoft's Office 2003 website, we are very confused about the options available to us. Our main conufsion is over the following...

** Should we use Local Installed Sources (LIS), or traditional admin install points (we are a geographically spread organisation, with 32 sites. 31 of those sites don't yet have servers - part of the rollout too - and not all of the sites will have a server anyway. We will be using VPN, over ADSL, to connect our sites.).

** If we use LIS and then update the clients separately with hotfixes and SPs- does this not then isolate our original network compressed image and the disk image we will be making. i.e. after the rollout, and the application of say SPxx to Office 2003 clients, what happens to any new PC's we image with the original image? Our image will be at our original baseline - do we then have to apply all the hotfixes and SP's to any newly imaged PC's (which means we need to keep accurate records of what we have applied)?

** How does LIS, or admin installs, fit in with Windows Update Services (which we want to use when its released)?

** Should we use the Office Profile Wizard to apply default settings, or the Custom Installation Wizard, or both - can we use both?

If anyone has some simple guidance on the above, it would be very much appreciated. The Office deployment website is very, very confusing to admin's coming from an Office 97 background.

    TIA,

Hopefully somebody will address your questions, but maybe you can download "Microsoft Office 97 to Microsoft Office 2003 Migration Issues (updated)" in the meantime, and see if it covers some of them.
