Forms entries dissappearing after being unprotecte (2000)
I have a form that was created in and is being used in Word 2000. The problem lies in the fact that after data has been entered in the form fields and then the form is unprotected, edited and then protected again the field data disappears.
When I do the same thing using Word 2003 the field data stays and on the form toolbar I have a button that I can use if I CHOOSE to clear the fields rather than them being cleared automatically. Is there a way in Word 2000 to be able to edit the form layout and design after data has already been entered into the fields without loosing it?

Re: Forms entries dissappearing after being unprotecte (2000)
Create a macro, for example in a module in your Normal.dot:
On Error Resume Next
If ActiveDocument.ProtectionType = wdNoProtection Then
ActiveDocument.Protect Type:=wdAllowOnlyFormFields, NoReset:=True
The argument NoReset:=True tells Word not to clear the form fields. You can assign this macro to a custom toolbar button (for example on the Forms toolbar or on a custom toolbar), and/or to a keyboard shortcut.
Note: the macro assumes that you have already specified which sections are to be protected and which ones aren't.
