    Trying to reenable Fax

Went to send a fax last night - fax capability gone!!?? Clicked on Control Panel - Mail and Fax......
Got told "insufficient memory or resources, close some windows"....
Got rid of everything that was open on the system bar, still didn't work. Rebooted PC, with minimal stuff enabled, still got the same msg.

Any ideas? Should I try a re-install of Windows, or is there a better, more logical way to resolve the problem?

    Thanks

    Re: Trying to reenable Fax

Don't use it, so this is just a guess...

Check your WindowsTemp folder - I suspect faxing software creates tmp files each time.
Is it full of .tmp files? - this could be a bottleneck.
(You should be able to safely delete any with a date earlier than today.)
A search for *.tmp may also throw up an alternative folder.

A search for temp in the Windows 98 forum should bring up other comments regarding temp files.

    Re: Trying to reenable Fax

Haven't used the fax for some considerable time (like months, and I'm pretty ruthless on temp and other gash files) so thats not the prob (just checked anyway:-)). I've just reinstalled Win 98 complete and the problem hasn't resolved.

I could, but don't really don't want to, install old Bitware Fax software (Win 95) just for the rare occasions it would get used, but every now and then just want to fax something from Word.

    NEway, thanks for your response.
