    Publisher quandries (Pub 2003)

1 - Is there any way to turn hyphenation off for ALL stories, or before you even create one?
2 - Word & PPT have this nice feature where if a text box is too big you can pop it closed around the text. For some weird reason, Publisher INCREASES the font size to fill the box when you choose the same feature! This is so aggravating and isn't seemly for a graphics -based program. What's going on?

    1) I don't believe that there is any way to turn on a default "no hyphenation". You have to turn if off for each publication.
    2) Publisher is a "page layout" program, and as such, the user determines the size and location of the text boxes (and graphic or picture frames) to best fit the page layout. The Word and PPT feature which you describe is not available in Publisher.

Thanks. The hyphenation option is new to me, this is helpful.

I'd like to know where to find the feature in Word and PPT to automatically adjust the text box to the text.

Not sure about PPT, but in Word, click inside the Text Box and then Format>Text Box>Text Box tab>Resize AutoShape to fit text. It seems to work well for the vertical size, but for me, the horizontal resizing leaves something to be desired.

Thanks for your suggestion. That's a tip that I didn't know and I'll make use of it.

I don't know if this helps, 3+ years later, but if you go to Tools, Options, Edit tab, then you can click off automatic hyphenation. This works in Pub 2003, not sure about other versions.

Well, thank you, you are right, 3 years later!
