Help! Constant OL Crashes (WVP SP2 Office 2003)

    Hi,
For some time now I have been having frequent hang ups and crashes with Outlook. There is no pattern, and it can even happen when I'm not doing anything. Most often, I click through the crash notice and it restarts immediately. Now it's also begun to close on minimizing, and then often hang or crash when I click on it.

The message most often cites ntdll.dll, [see attachment] but my research hasn't really helped. I have already done the following.
    1. reinstall OL
    2. reinstall Word
    3. run a reinstall of Windows XP Pro SP2

things are somewhat better, in various respects, but the crashes continue. All efforts to rescue me apprediated.

    TIA,
    Michael

Any chance you are running or formerly ran WinFax Pro or data File Management? If so see <!mskb=823525>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 823525<!/mskb>, and search this forum for WinFax pro advice.

If not, what other steps have you taken, are you on a server, and what have you done as far as maintenance of your PST? Also, is Outlook more stable if you don't run Word as your message editor?

I ran Winfax Pro a while ago, but it's not on my system anymore. I'm using a home computer [Dell dimension 8100, one gig ram, tons of hard drive space, recently defragged ], and no server, but I do have a router. I will close off Word as the email editor and see what happens. [Though I do miss my autotext entries when i do that.]

    Thanks,
    Michael

Michael, the maintenance I'm thinking about is more Outlook specific, such as running Detect-&-Repair, and running the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe). Have you tried these?

    Hi:
I have now run those two repair functions, and have also turned off Word as my email editor. Right now that seems to have done the trick. I'll wait a few days and try using Word again to see if that is the trigger.

    Thanks,
    Michael
