    Video and Speaker Errors

All of the sudden my speakers were spitting and the graphic for my wallpaper on the desktop was spotty (not a clear and defined image. I did a scan disk and everything came up okay. What could the problem be?

A long shot could be a defrag, but I doubt it achieve any more.

My first guess would be hardware, especially if the speakers are integrated with the VDU.

I did a defrag, thanks anyway. Unfortunately I have a Cybermax and they are now out of business. Isn't that how it always is???

have you checked for a possible new source of interference, mobile phones or such like.

No, I haven't. I cannot think of anything that has changed in the area. Will test out the monitor, but this wouldn't answer why the speakers are acting up too. It is so strange. I have the settings for the monitor correct too.

    Re: Video and Speaker Errors

It may not be the actual speakers, just some interfernece which is causing a signal to be sent to the speakers. I can always tell when my mobile phone is going to ring as the PC speakers go a little crazy just before it rings.

I think you're spreading germs. (No, just kidding.)

But the Hotel's Compaq in our Business Centre has speakers which have started to emit a high pitch whine in the last day or two. (My laptop, which I always use to access the Lounge, and this the problem child are in no way connected, so Lynn has definitely not spread any germs!) <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Speakers are fine now, but the screen is still not the right resolution by looking at it. When I go into the setup it is correct though.

    Re: Video and Speaker Errors

I had 'spitting speakers' at one point and it turned out that my external modem was close enough to the speakers that they were picking up interference from it - just like a mobile phone does to ordinary phones and also speakers. Moving modem and speakers apart fixed it... HTH
