    Speakers

I have GE external speakers plugged into my laptop via the headphone jack. Because of this sound no longer comes out of the laptop's built-in speakers, which are Harmon/Kardon and are actually pretty decent. Is there a way to get sound from BOTH the external speakers and the laptop's built-in speakers? TIA.

    Max,
    Probably NOT.
When you insert a headphone plug into the speaker jack, it is usually wired so that the internals are disconnected by way of a contact in the jack assembly itself.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

You actually WANT the jack to work this way. Most people use headphones to keep from bothering other people. If the speakers did not cut out, you would continue to bother others.
