    Access Advice (Access 97)

    Greetings,
I need some advice on what would be the best way to create a report. I have a database with approx. 5000 records. These records are based on 8 individuals. There are ID#, Dates, and other files in this data.
My question is I want to create a report that cover the months of May to December. I want to count records for each individual for each month, then have a total for the month.
Do I want to create a assortment of quries based on the individuals then do a count based off of the query?
I have been getting the most learning for Access from this website. Thanks for any assistance.

We can't really help you without knowing something about the table structure in your database.

We don't have much to go on...but the best approach is to first create a query that will extract the fields you require. Use any filter settings to extract the records that meet your criteria, and save that query!
Then you can attempt the report wizard that will guide you through the steps to generate a report. The wizard helps to set up the totals you need, so there is no need to do simple calculations in the query. Just ensure that you group the data to enable the calculation feature in the wizard.
With more information i'm sure we can guide you more accurately!

Attached is a striped down version of the DB. This was created by someone else, so dont blame me for the lay out. LOL. The fields I would be dealing with are the engineer, and form date. As stated earlier, I am wanting a report of how many records for each engineer between May and December of a year, but listed by month. Thanks for the assistance.
