Removing line from section breaks (Word 2000)

We have a document that has a line drawn with the line drawing tool in the header and footer section to divide the page into 2/3 on right, 1/3 on left. When we insert a section break to paste a visio drawing we want that line to disappear for the visio section only. If we delete the line, it is removed from the whole document.
Is there a way that we can remove this line from the visio sections scattered throughout the document without loosing it everywhere?
We have tried a variety of break combinations to no avail.
    Thanks much. kw

Select View | Header and Footer. Use the buttons in the Header and Footer toolbar to move to one of the Visio sections. The "Same as previous" button is probably on (down). Turn if off for the header or footer - wherever the line is anchored; if you're not sure, turn if off for both. Do the same for the next section. Then move back to the Visio section and delete the line. You should now have removed it only from the Visio section, since it is unlinked from both the previous section and from the next one.
