Make delete really delete on an Exchange Server

We have some users that deal with sensitive information through email and would like to make it where deleted email messages get cleared irrevocably in 30 days. Deleted messages stay around forever (we have discovered that setting the Autoarchive setting to clean out old items does NOTHING!) and even when the user deletes them manually from the Deleted Items folder, they aren't gone until the system limit on the server is reached).

What I want is to have the Deleted Items never be older than 30 days and once gone, they shouldn't be retrievable short of going to a backup. Is there any to be able to do this or fix the bug in the AutoArchive feature?

are you using the deleted recovery option? what is it set for? if over 30 days, you'll need to change the server settings or have hte user manually purge the recovery folder.
