Visio animation? (PPT 2000)

Does anyone have an idea of how (i.e., best practice) to display a Visio (2k) diagram in a presentation that is generally too large to fit on a single slide? I have attempted to simplify the original flow chart, but I think that it will still be hard to see on a single slide, and I would prefer not to add continuation markers to the Visio chart and then continue the flow chart on a second and/or third slide. Is there any way to highlight and zoom in on a flowchart shape, one at a time, to step through the flow being presented?

I have attached a sample of my visio and ppt in a zip file.

Thank you in advance!

I think you'd go crazy trying to set a zoom - but how about something like what I've done in the attached sample.
Add slides with the sections of your visio graphic - zoomed up so that it is nice and readable.
Then overlay hyperlinked rectangles (I've left a border around mine - for better visibilty), that link to the appropriate slide.
I've also added a "back to main" hyperlink on the slide.
This should give the appearance of zooming.

Catherine,

That works for me! Would you mind letting me know how you set the area boundary for the shape (project initiation) that you made into a hotspot? And, is there a way to hide the border that shows in the Visio that shows the entire flowchart? I would like to create these areas around all of the flowchart shapes in my slide.

Thank you!

how you set the area boundary
First step: create the destination slide, I copied the visio graphic to a new, blank slide. Then used the crop tool on the picture toolbar to crop out the portion I wanted. Then deselect the picture and reselect it to resize it up.
Second step: Return to the original slide. Draw a rectangle over the area you want to "hotspot" - but you could use any shape, circles, ovals, whatever. Then, right-click on the shape and choose to Hyperlink it. The hyperlink dialog box will offer a choice of destinations; choose the Place in this document category and select the destination you created earlier. After hyperlinking the shape, I then formatted to remove the "fill". Once the border is removed it is essentially an invisible rectangle sitting on top of the graphic.

is there a way to hide the border that shows in the Visio that shows the entire flowchart
I think that border comes from Visio, so there is no way to remove it. However, what about a variation on the technique above? I notice your slides have a plain white background, why not draw an invisible rectangle with a thick white border and layer it on top of the graphic, so that the border is covered up?

Re: Visio animation? (PPT 2000)

Catherine,

Great! I got it all working. I was also able to remove the border on the rectangles (I may not have been clear on this in my last posting) by specifying "No Line" for the Line | Color. I guess I will keep my original request on a "wish list" for future PowerPoint features.

Thank you for your help.
