Turning on read receipt notification (2003 SP1)

A co-worker of mine just received a new computer with Outlook 2003 on it. We use an Exchange server. I have a similar machine and software. I am setup to request to send a read receipt. On my machine I have the box selected in front of "ask me before sending a response" under Tools/Options/Email Options/Tracking Options. Her machine has this option greyed out. Do we need to change something elsewhere to make this option available to her? Many thanks!

I think that these Options have been disabled by Server Admin in this user's configuration - talk to them.

Does it make sense that the Server Admin would do this user by user? We are co-workers and mine is not greyed out, but her's is. Our company has at least 50,000 users.

IT people make errors also, or it could be a new policy that is just being started.

To expand on DaveA's comments, there can also be differences in the way machines are ghosted at rollout, because of different rollout strategies at different times. My company is supposed to have consistent ghosting, but a lot of the people at corporate are set up with Admin Rights on their machines, while mine isn't because I'm in remote office.

But to answer your question directly, no, it doesn't make sense.

(50,000 users? That's a big company - even more opportunity for inconsistency.)

Does your boss/personnel regard the two of you as being exactly the same? It is possible that you have slightly different profiles as far as they are concerned. HTH
