Install Office 2000 Pro with Word 2002 (2000)

I bought my computer with Microsoft Word 2002 installed as part of a Works Suite. Word 2002 is installed under a folder called "Office" in my Program Files. I recently purchased Microsoft Office 2000 Professional. I want to install the programs from this disc ie Power Point, Excel, Outlook etc. Can I do a custom install because I don't want Word 2000 to overwrite my newer copy (Word 2002). If so, do I just install everything from the disc but not Word? If so, how do I do this? Also does Office 2000 Professional need to go into a new folder ie Office2000 in my program files. I really want to run these other programs but I don't want them to interfere with my Word 2002. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the lounge.

It is possible to install multiple versions of Office on the same PC, but you should install the most recent version last. My advice would be to...

Deinstall Word 2002 - using Control Panel Add or Remove Programs

Install Office 2000. During the installation you will get an opportunity to choose which components you want to install.

Reinstall Word 2002 to a non default folder, so that you don't overwrite any of the components used by Office 2000. During the installation you should be offered an opportunity to change the installation folder.[/list]Good luck, let us know how it works out.

Re: Install Office 2000 Pro with Word 2002 (2000)

I will uninstall Word 2002 & I will install Microsoft Office 2000 Professional (Without Word 2000) to C:Program FilesMicrosoft Office. I will then reinstall Word 2002 to C:Program FilesOffice. Will it be OK since they have different folder names? They just need different folder names so no data gets overwritten? Is there any need to install Word 2000 if I have the newer 2002 version?

Re: Install Office 2000 Pro with Word 2002 (2000)

On second thought, if I don't currently have a version of Microsoft Office installed on my computer (Just Microsoft Word 2002 installed in a folder labeled Office in my program files) do I need to unistall it first before adding Microsoft Office 2000 minus Word 2000? Or is Word 2002 considered a version of Office? Thanks for all your help. I'm kind of new at this.
    Thanks.

Word is part of the Office suite of products and shares some components with the earlier versions. You should install the earlier version first and then install the later one.
