    IE5.5 + Win95 - remembered text

IE very helpfully "remembers" text which is typed into many text boxes on various Web site, such as your name and email address.

Being something of a butter-fingered individual I invariable mis-type something then hit enter, or is it tab, instead of the backspace.

The result is that when I now type my name get such offering as "Gramville", "Granvi" and a few more I'd like to remove. To add a complication I would at the same time like to keep the properly entered text.

Is this possible? If so, how?

    Thabks (oops!) Thanks!

You mean the drop-down box which lists last entries?
Try mousing down to highlight the entry in question (don't click) and hitting delete.

Amazing. I was just going to post this question and here's the answer.

Now, how about the Address line? Is there any way of controlling what is listed in the drop-down box there?

    <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> Can I claim that was too obvious/easy?

    Thanks heaps!

The address line, I believe, is a different matter and not so easily solved.
I think they are controlled by your cache settings - clear the cache and they go. Unfortunately there seems no way I have come across to selectively remove them.

Thanks for your answer, I think you're right. How do you clear the cache, anyway? Is that done if you clear the History folder?

    Yes - I think so.
Try Tools | Internet Options | Clear History.
(I have mine set to remember 0 days and don't get the problem of Auto-complete in the address bar.)
