    Serial Number

I'd like to find the serial number for the W98 installed on my machine. I would like to use my W98 CD to upgrade a machine running W95, but have missplaced the installation CD code. Where in the machine can I find it? Is it needed?

    Hi Andy

    I think <post#=428618>post 428618</post#> might just hold the "key" <img src=/S/pun.gif border=0 alt=pun width=22 height=18> to what you need.

You done good Alan, just the thing I wanted. Now...

Is there a way to find the Serial Number of the W98 CD? I'm trying to match the CD with the machine it's running on.

I don't think Windows98 CDs have individual serial numbers, they are all identical, except possibly if there is a sticker with the serial number printed on the CD case.

    Re: Serial Number

The first thing I'd try is the key you found on your machine. Usually (AFAIK) the CD is not actually "branded" with a key, but the numbers have to match a legitimate "pattern" to be considered valid. Try it and see.
