XP and 64 bit processors (XP)

    Dear Loungers,

My machine is using an Athlon 64bit processor. On attempting, some time ago, to load SP-2 it failed so I reverted to the previous build.
My question is does any update to XP run successfully on a 64 bit machine? and should I attempt to get windows updates again?
Also I hear that SP-2 "breaks" machines is there any truth in this?

    thank you ........................... liz

There is a lot hardware that is not supported by XP and SP2. But as for "Breaking" a machine if seen or heard no such TRUE stories.

Some pirated copies of XP while NOT be able to upgrade to SP2

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
