    Com Add-In Designer (2003)

In Office XP, a COM Add-In designer appeared, but seems to have disappeared again in 2003. Has anyone seen it?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

I think you're looking for Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System. This is the successor to the Microsoft Office Developer Edition.

    Hi Hans,

thanks for your prompt reply. Unfortunately, my client does not yet use .NET, so I shall have to use the XP designer or VB6.

    Regards,

    Mark

The package Hans mentioned is a standalone that can be installed without the rest of Visual Studio.Net. I have a copy on my laptop without Visual Studio.Net.

    Hi Charlotte,

Thanks for that info. I wll give it a try when I find the DVD!

The problem will arise when I hand the product to the client. They are one of the biggest companies in the country so getting different software is always a problem, plus it's a defence project so more complications.

By the way, what is the significance of the first class postage stamp bearing the (very old) picture of our gracious Queen?

    Regards,

    Mark

Queen Charlotte (well, one of them, anyhow) was George III's queen. When I became an Admin, the mods and WMVPs insisted that I needed a userpic. I wanted an all-seeing eye, but one of the miscreants came up with that stamp instead. Since Queen Charlotte wasn't a regnant queen, there wouldn't be any stamps of her, even if they had used them at the time, so I would up with ER instead. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

That package isn't part of Visual Studio, it is a separate app that installs a basic version of VS.Net, including VB.Net Standard. I don't know if it is included with any of the various versions of VS.Net

There's plenty of those available from Lord of the Rings material. Somehow, however, the idea of you struggling against an environment of "malignant" porphyria seems more appropriate.
