    numbering problem (Word 2002)

I have a numbered list. All items begin with regular text (no italics and no bold). Some of the items end with bold and italics.

PROBLEM: Many of the auto-generated numbers want to be bold and italicized. How do I prevent/repair this? I want all the numbers to be un-bolded and un-italicized.

Turn on viewing of Paragraph marks.
Select the paragraph mark at the end of the paragraph following the number
Set the format you want for the number

Great! Thanks. This does the trick.

BTW, I also got a suggestion in house to use "Bullets and Numbering", "Customize", "Font", "Font Style", "Regular", which also seems to work.
