Outlook spell check error (Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711))

    Hi,

I am running Outlook 2000 under Windows 2000 Pro. Some time earlier today I started getting an error message when I send email. All it says is "An error occurred while spell checking". My emails send but no spell check occurs.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Gregory

Sounds like your CUSTOM.DIC file (which retains all your preferred spellings) may have become corrupted. It is a plain text file and may be in a hidden folder somewhere under something like Cocuments and Settings[username]Application Data.

The file will open in Notepad. If you can't see anything obviously corrupted - which should be removed - try renaming the file to something like CUSTOM.old. The system should automatically create a new CUSTOM.DIC on your next spell check. You can then try copying over your old data. Alternatively, you can simply delete the existing file.
