    Start menu scroll (XP SP2)

I have a menu that I used a ton that is a directory simply called "quick". Under it is all of the shortcuts I use most often. To get to it, I have to go to Start | Programs | Quick and then it expands out to all of my deeper directories and files. Is there a quicker way that I can get to it by putting an expandable menu on the start menu without having to hit the "programs" button? I'm trying to save a couple of clicks.
I can drag that menu over to the start button, but it doesn't expand, it just opens up the explorer when I dbl-click on it.

My Documents and My Pictures, etc are on the right hand side and they scroll out. Is there a way to add my own there?

Why don't you use the Quick Launch toolbar in the Task Bar? You can display all icons (upper screenshot), or if you want to save on real estate, make it very narrow and click on the

Ahh, good idea. What's interesting with that is that if I show the icon for the menu, it won't expand out, but instead opens up the explorer.
But if I hide it, it will then expand when I put simply put my curser over it. That make sense?

Anyway to show the icon AND have it expand too.

    Hans,
I don't know what happens but when I click on the FIRST post in this thread, I IMMEDIATELY get "knocked off" and disconnected from the Lounge. I can click on your post and the response to your post fine, The first one kicks me right out?
That is the only one that does that to me?????

Whatever it is, it happens EVERY time I click on the First post in that thread ONLY. When I attempt to access that first post in that thread from the WINXP forum. it just disconnects me from the lounge completely. Happens every time too.????????????
That's the only one, all others are fine???????

    Yep,
Restarted the PC and cleared the TIFs as Francois suggested, clicked on that post and..........I was gone.
Just chopped me off the lounge and back to my desktop !

Edited to add: even had it reset the cookie for the lounge.

This is typical for the Lounge - any thread can be hijacked. To get back to your question, I'm afraid I didn't understand <post#=450119>post 450119</post#>.

Re: Start menu scroll (XP SP2)

I think I understand your problem.

I created a folder called quick and populated it with shortcuts to a variety of useful documents etc.

If I move this folder to Cocuments and SettingsAll UsersStart MenuPrograms then it appears as a menu item on the Programs menu and as the mouse moves to Quick it expands to show my useful shortcuts.

If I drag this folder to the START button instead, then it appears at the top of the main Start menu, but I have to Open the quick folder to do anything with the contents, it won't expand like a menu item.

The best alternative I could find is to move Quick to the Desktop and then display the Desktop menu (right click the taskbar, Toolbars > Desktop). If you drag the desktop menu to the extreme right then it appears as a little button with Desktop on it, you can click this and move to Quick which then opens.

    Oh, I didn't realize that you were referring to my question that you didn't understand. LOL <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15>

Anyway, try it, if you put a shortcut list on the Quick Launch bar and click on it, it will open up an explorer window with all of the shortcuts, etc.

Then, if you hide it with the >> then when you click on it and mouse-over the icon that was hidden, it will fold out the menu nicely. This seems to be the best way to handle it, I'm just confused why it won't work if it's not hidden.
