    Word and Excel dates (Word XP Dutch)

    Good morning,

    Can anybody help me with the following?
    I have two files:
    a. A Word File with a table for etiquettes in which a date has to be filled in. This date is the date of today + 2 days.
    b. An Excel File with the formula for today+2 days

    I merge these two files to have the right etiquettes for my user.

    What is my problem: I live in the Netherlands!!! And we have a different notation of the date... so, today is not 2/9/2005 but 9/2/2005! In Excel it's no problem to define that, but as soon as I merge these Word and Excel files my Word file gives 2/9/2005 in stead of 9/2/2005! What am I doing wrong?!!! Boohoo!!!

    I hope that somebody has a good solution for me (no, I'm not gonna move to the States or whereever <img src=/S/tongue.gif border=0 alt=tongue width=15 height=15> )

    Many thanks in advance!

    Greetz,
    Daphne

    Hi Daphne,

    You can add a formatting switch to the date merge field:
    - Right click the merge field.
    - Select Toggle Field Codes (Veldcodes weergeven) from the popup menu.
    - You will see something like

    { MERGEFIELD DateField * MERGEFORMAT }

    - Add a formatting switch:

    { MERGEFIELD DateField @ "dd-MM-yyyy" * MERGEFORMAT }

    - You can modify the date format if you like.
    - Press F9 to hide field codes and update the field.

    You somehow ended up with a field within a field. I have attached a corrected version of the document, but you will have to locate and specify the Excel file again, because I stored it in a different folder than you did.
