    Non IE Threats

It looks like those who have been congratulating themselves on not using IE or who thought they were safe because they used a Mac had better think again: http://www.netsquirrel.com/articles/..._spoofing.html This affects Mozilla, Firefox, Safari, Netscape Navigator, and Opera on *both* the PC and the Mac, but not IE.

See IDN Spoofing Issue - MozillaZine Forums

The reason that it does not affect IE is because IE does not support International Domain names.

Mozilla is currently testing Firefox 1.0.1 which is a security update. I have not managed to find the list of fixes, but the option to disable IDN support via the network.enableIDN setting will hopefully be included. This has already been fixed in the Firefox nightly builds.

And, oh boy, haven't some of them been screaming about it being mentioned. I noticed someone dropped the bait into a usenet newsgroup, no doubt awaiting the reaction - it was like dragging a stick along the bars of the "We hate Bill Gates" monkey cage. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
