Protecting Styles (2003-2002)

In Word 2003, there is a feature to password protect Formatting Restrictions. This will make it so that all users that recieve the document must use fonts/formats that are currently in the Styles & Formatting task pane.

My question is: Is there a way to do this in Word 2002 as well?

I don't think there is anything similar in Word 2002 or earlier, and since there is no event associated with selecting a style, it won't be easy to implement.
