    View Report Only (2002/SP2)

I have a secured database that tracks employee information. One of the reports that it creates is a phone number list.
Is it possible to set up an icon on the desktop that will only run this report? I have some people that need this information, but I don't want to give them access to the whole database. Thanks for any help.

You can create a macro in the database that prints the report, then quits Access. Name it (for example) mcrReport.
Create a shortcut with a target like this:

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10MSAccess.exe" "ServerShareFolderMyDatabase.mdb" /x mcrReport

The /x switch tells Access to execute the macro whose name follows /x.

    Hans,

Thanks for your prompt reply, you are amazing.

I ran into a little snag. I set up the macro and the shortcut the way you described but when I try to run the shortcut, I get the following message:
    "You don

Since your database is secured, you probably have to specify in the target of the shortcut which workgroup file should be used:

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10MSAccess.exe" "ServerShareFolderMyDatabase.mdb" /x mcrReport /wrkgrp "ServerShareFolderSecured.mdw"

Is that really the exact target of the shortcut? It should work (if all paths are correct) - it does for me if I substitute names that exist on my PC. check everything very carefully.
