Calendar problem in Outlook (Outlook 2000 SP3)

In setting up appointments the Start Time and End Time section has a window for date and one for time for each. One could click the dialog box, see the calendar and click on a different month or date. Same with time increments. Yet on my Calendar, whenever I try to select the dropdown calendar, the window snaps shut. Same with time. SO I lose the ablility to use the calendar and time selection, and have to use a manual calendar and type in the date. Any ideas why this might be happening? TYIA
