    Track Changes (Word 2002)

    We have recently changed to Word 2002 from Word 1997. And as usual we appear to have lost a feature that we used to use.

    As a requirement of our configuration control procedures we use track changes to show the changes between the different versions of documents. In the 1997 version we were able to hide all changes in the final versions, but leave the "changed lines" on so staff were aware of where sections have changed. In the latest version we are able to have "none" as the track changes options for insertions, but there appears to be no way of having a similar setting for deletions. If we show insertions and deletions we see the bars, but also all the deletions (the additions have been changed to "none" formatting.

    Can anyone offer any advice how to get around our conundrum (other than accepting all deletions). Many thanks

    Re: Track Changes (Word 2002)

    The dialog changed, so you have to use a little VBA to assign the proper style. The code is:

    <table border=1 bordercolor=black cellpadding=3 cellspacing=0><td>Strikethrough: </td><td>Options.DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkStrikeThrough</td><td>Hidden: </td><td>Options.DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkHidden</td></table>
    You can set up a commandbar button or menu item to toggle between them, or do something fancier if you like. A toggle macro might look like this:
    <pre>Sub ToggleDeletedRevMarks()
    ' Switch Between "Hidden" and "Strikethrough" Marking...at your own risk!!!
    With Options
    If .DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkHidden Then
    .DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkStrikeThrough
    Else
    .DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkHidden
    End If
    End With
    End Sub
    </pre>

    Hope this helps.
