Format Painter (2000)

Is there a way to click on the Format Painter and keep it on to make multiple hits with it. Right now I select what has the format I would like and then I select where to put the format. Then I have to keep selecting the format painter each time I want that same format. I would like the format painter to stay on. I have tried the ctrl key plus the format painter, the shift key plus the format painter etc. Maybe there isn't a way to do this.

Double click the Format Painter to keep it "on". When you're done, click it once, or press the Esc key.

Similarly, if you want to create a series of text boxes on a form or report, double click the Text Box button on the toolbox, etc.

I never thought of double clicking it. I knew there was a way to do it. Thank you very much.
