Office Links/Access (A2K format with Office XP)

I have several Access database applications (written in A2K) that I have had to move to machines with Microsoft XP Office Professional. I have NOT converted these to an Access XP format. My applications use security, so I have joined my security file with the existing system.mdw on the new machines and that is all working fine.

I have modules in each of the applications where the user can select a query (for Word mail merge) and I run/display the query data to the screen and take the user to Tools, Office Links, Merge It with Microsoft Word. The users have main documents that they select and away they go. Until XP that is!!

    I don't know a lot about mergin.
Out of posts from <!profile=Wendellb>Wendellb<!/profile>, I understand that the merge function change a lot between Office 2000 and Office XP.
Have a look at his site : Managing Merges with Access, may be you find something there or in the links at his site.

Are you using code to create the word object? Do you have a reference set to the word object library? Are you managing the merge with DAO? Are they running this application using Access XP? Have you checked to see if there is a reference problem on the XP machines?

I may be way off the mark here, but last year I worked myself into the ground coming up with a solution to get Access to process data to an "existing" word mail merge...after a couple weeks of code and head aches...I thought why not just create a hyperlink to that merged doc. then made it look like a macro button. if your sending to the same merged documents all the time using the same queries as your source data, it might work for you too. Anyhow...I may be off the mark from what your asking, it just sounded like de'ja'vu and thought it couldn't help but to suggest it.
