    Background Graphics (A2000)

    Hi all

I have used the search feature and have tried a number of the suggestions but I am still having a problem, let me explain

I am trying to convert a very complicated form into an access db, without doing a load of intricate measurements to put boxes and lines on my form I thought it would be better to scan the form and use it as a background and then place the appropriate fields over the correct areas and resize them ect., however

    1. If I embed the form and then stretch it to its correct size it looks terrible

    2. If I copy and paste the image into a form it looks perfect and is exaclty the right size, however it is very hard to work with as when I try dragging fields around the form the picture also gets selected and moves about as well.

My question is this, is there a way to use option 2 and then somehow 'freeze it' so that it cannot be selected in design mode?

    Cheers

    Steve

It wouldn't be a very good idea if you couldn't select a control in design view.

I assume that by "embed the form" you mean that you set the Picture property of the form to the scanned file. If that is correct, you should set the Picture Size Mode property to Clip, or perhaps Zoom, but definitely not Stretch, to let the picture keeps its original aspect ratio. If you meant something else, please explain.

Just another thought on this...below the Picture line and sizemode line that Hans mentioned, you might also think about picture type line...and try linking it to the scan instead of bloating the database size by embedding it, which its going to do be default.

If you don't embed the graphic, there is no way to be sure the locations of the fields on your form match the layout of the graphic. The bloat is one of the reasons using a graphic like this isn't usually recommended.
