IE6 closes when clicking a link (6.02/sp2)

IE 6 is closing when I click on some links but not others. For instance, I can navigate fine clicking the command links here on Woody's Lounge except the reference links. When I click these IE6 closes the browser. Can anyone give me a clue where I should begin to look to chase this problem down. This also happens when I try to use live chat with the Tech Support from Dell even though I can navigate around to get to the page where the Tech Support link resides.

Thank you Joe,

Spyware Doctor took care of it. I have been running SpyNuker and it only finds the same 10 cookies everytime I run it. Spyware Doctor found 122 items.

(Changed from SpyDoctor to Spyware Doctor)

Doc,

Thank you. I downloaded the Spybot and it found another 10 items that Spyware Doctor and Spy Nuker did not find.
I guess I'll be running all three of my Spyware products.

Don,

I'd really recommend that you get the other two as well. All are and are updated regularly. Adaware will pickup things that Spybot misses and vice-versa. SpywareBlaster is a protection utility rather than a find and remove tool. It "innoculates" your computer against almost 3400 nasties to date. The protection is great and you really can't beat the price !! Unlike AV programs, you can't have too many anti-spyware programs (yet), as long as they are tested and reputable programs. There are many out there that are no better than the junk that they proport to protect you against. The link in my last post is a good reference point for this information.

Re: IE6 closes when clicking a link (6.02/sp2)

Hi Don,

I just wanted to be sure that you don't have something that might do more harm than good on your system. I found the following information about SpyDoctor here
SpyDoctor healthycomputerclub.com
nospyware.info false positives work as goad to purchase (1); poor scan reporting (1); same app as #1 Spyware Killer, Spyinator, SpyKiller 2004, SpyLax, SpySpotter, SpywareThis, & Spyware Protection Pro; Ad-aware knockoff; no longer available (succeeded by SpyLax) - Note: not to be confused w/ Spyware Doctor, a completely different app by another company [A: 6-29-04 / U: 10-25-04]

And this disclaimer about SpyDoctor by Spyware Doctor.

I'd recommend that you go back to the tutorial that Joe linked to and get copies of Adaware se, Spybot S&D and SpywareBlaster. Even if your copy of SpyDoctor is not the unauthorized version, it is not enough by itself to protect your system from all the nasties out there trying to get in. I'm not tryin' to scare you, just inform you. HTH.
