    SP-1? (MSO2003)

Do I need the SP-1, or is it going to be a problem like the sr-2 was for 2K

Yes, you should install SP-1. A lot of problems with the initial release have been fixed in this service pack (see Issues that are fixed in Outlook 2003 by Office 2003 Service Pack 1)

    Re: SP-1? (MSO2003)

    Hans:

The first one seemed fine (there were two files, CLIENTOFFICE2003SP1-KB842532-CLIENT-ENU.EXE and CLIENTPTK2003SP1-KB843188-CLIENT-ENU.EXE and "32" installed fine, but "88" said it couldn't find the expected version. They said this was an update for the proofing tools, which I installed (I thought).

Did I do or not something wrong, or is something still needed, or...?

Proofing Tools for Office 2003 is a separate package that contains language support for over 50 different languages. See Proofing Tools for Office 2003 Editions Frequently Asked Questions. Are you sure you have this package?

By the way, why don't you let Office Update from Microsoft Office Downloads Home Page determine which updates you need?

    Hans:

    1) No, I'm not sure I've got it... I just installed the cd's (2) that came, NOT the Contacts Manager yet..., but part of that SAID it was international language support etc. -- this version is JUST different enough to give pause...

Also, in v 2K, there was a way to import mail accounts... I cannot find it in v2003. Did they "remove" it?

    1) The Proofing Tools are sold separately from Office 2003. I can't judge whether they were included in the version you bought, but the problem you report makes me doubt it.

    2) Have you tried File | Import and Export..., Import Internet Mail Account Settings?

    Hans:

You're undoubtedly right about the Proofing Tools...

The Import/Export only shows me Outlook Express to importt from. I had my "old" pst file in the Outlook folder, so the emails themselves were picked up, but not the addresses (accounts).

The "Import" that was on the "Accounts" page (Tools/Accounts) in 2K is what used to work, but that whole area is different now.

That feature has been removed from Outlook 2002 and later, see You cannot import or export e-mail accounts with .IAF files in Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003.

    Re: SP-1? (MSO2003)

    Hans:

    I did it...

I imported the IAF files into Outlook Express, and then Outlook 2003 saw and accepted them...

    Select Tools | Rules Wizard...
    Click Options...
    Click Import Rules...
    Locate your .rwz file.
