Child Window Sizes

W2K & XP Home
I always thought that when an activity that spawned a child window ran the state (size & position) of that window was remembered from the last time it was used. This really doesn't seem to be the case for me any more. Don't know what has changed. I would be more comfortable with a general setting that made every child window full sized rather than not be in control at all.

Is this sort of thing user settable?

Thanks

Re: Child Window Sizes

The setting is available at My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be "permanent" and many users report that their settings don't "stick". There are some registry hacks that are available to make this change permanent. If you're interested I'll dig one up and post it. Meanwhile, heres a screenshot of that setting. HTH

Edited by Doc to add You can also click on the "Apply To All Folders" button to set all folders view to be like the one you are viewing at that moment.

Thanks very much. Been there on the folder setting, so I must be one of the "dont stick". If you can lay your hands on the reg hack easily I'd be very grateful
