    4 Print

Way back in the DOS era, I used to use a utility called "4Print" which would print text files 4-to-a-page (4-up), 2 on each side. Very cool for printing software docs (which were mostly all text files then). I think you could call this "booklet" printing as well.

With all the software and duplexing printers that I have in the office now, I thought for sure that this wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything that will do this sort of printing for a PDF file.

    Any ideas apreciated.

Not <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> but not very expensive either: FinePrint & pdfFactory - Software to create pdf documents, booklet printing, double sided printing, 2 up printing, and print preview..

Printing n-up is often a feature of the printer driver.

For example, in Adobe Reader 7.0 I can print 1-up, 2-up or 4-up on an HP DeskJet 990cxi by selecting the appropriate printer properties. (With CutePDF as the "printer" I can select 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages per sheet!)

    Jim,

Have you checked your own printer preferences? I have a HP printer and you can:

click start>settings>printers & faxes, then highlight your printer and click printer preferences>features.
On that page you can select print multiple pages ( 2 or 4 to a page ) also print on two sides.

Seems like it does the same thing as what you are looking for.

    Re: 4 Print

Just as you say, I found the option in one of my HP printer drivers. Sometimes things just hide right out in the open.

Unfortunately, the only duplex printer in the office is the HP 5550 color, which is quite a bit more expensive to run than the b&w Xerox document center, that I wanted to print this document on.

    * Don't get me started on the current state of interface desgin and dialog boxes. The next time I have to select an "Advanced" tab and them press an "Advanced" Button on that sheet, I'll just scream
