    Command Button Question (2000/SP3)

    Hello All (again), <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>

I'm in need of some more command button assistance. This time, I'm trying to open a table. I've got the open part down so the table opens ... only problem is that it maximizes the table and restores the form in the background. What I'd like to have it do is exactly opposite; to simply open the table (restored) and leave the form maximized. Is there a way to do this?

Assistance ... as always ... is very appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Re: Command Button Question (2000/SP3)

In the first place, a command button is part of the interface for end users. End users should never be allowed to open a table or query directly; they should only be able to view and edit data through forms.

In the second place, you haven't told us what code you are using, so it is impossible for us to tell what is wrong.

If you maximizes a form, the table will also open maximized.
You can't keep a form maximized and open a table restored..

BTW it is a verry bad idea to work at table level. You should always use a form to append/edit data.

    Re: Command Button Question (2000/SP3)

Thank you both for your assistance. I'm sorry I didn't specify this earlier, but all I'm doing is allowing a user to view a table for quick reference. I made it read only, so no edits are allowed.
As for code ... there's not much. The form is using a macro in the 'on open' to maximize it. The button has code for the 'on click' function ... (sorry if I'm stating the obvious there) to open the table in read-only. Aside from that ... nada.
I understand if there's simply no way of doing it. I just wanted to get back to you both and answer what questions were asked. Thanks again for your help.

    Re: Command Button Question (2000/SP3)

You can create a simple continuous form based on the table, and set its Popup property to Yes. If you open this form from a maximized form, the calling form will stay maximized while the popup form will be displayed restored. (You could even open the form in datasheet view, although I never do that myself)
