Re: Web site cannot be viewed in AOL browser<br>w

Not being a user of AOL, can you give me some idea about what is not being viewed correctly?

Your site is using frames and doesn't validate (http://validator.w3.org) to any form of html, I dont keep up with the aol browser as it isn't very good for general surfing but there are known issues with aol browser and frames. Most people who have aol as their ISP use IE or firefox for general surfing. Cheers Graham.

I know thos won't help him with the question, but maybe someone can comment on this. When I worked at Kentucky Educational Television, some of us had a free software program that would emulate what an AOL user sees when he/she visits a web page. Some of us used it to test web pages, but I'll be darned if I can find it this morning in an (admittedely) short round of Googling.

Sounds like it could be the frames issue that Graham mentioned above. Can you test if a single frameless page renders OK?

I found this cool site, http://www.browsercam.com/ which lets you view your site in any OS and in any browser. It's not free but if this isn't for a casual site, it might be worth it (one day's use is $20).

I have seen other browser emulators so you can search for those too but as others have said, AOL's built in browser is <img src=/S/barf.gif border=0 alt=barf width=64 height=23>

In view of the "good luck" at the end of your post, I have let it stand, but the overall tone of your post is not in keeping with the Lounge atmosphere. A link to the Lounge Rules is available at the bottom of each page for your guidance.

You are flirting with violations of <!rule=09>Rule 09<!/rule> and <!rule=11>Rule 11<!/rule> in your post, and you should be aware that we do not tolerate continued violation of the rules. We provide a rich array of smilies to assist you in making your meaning clear, so I suggest that you start using them if you are joking. If you are NOT joking, let this be a warning.
