    Default paper size

I have an HPLaserJet 5L and am running Windows98SE. The bulk of my printing is done on A4 paper. Only rarely do I use American Letter size. How can I make A4 the default size? Each time I print a document I have to set it for A4. If I close Word and re-open it the paper size for the document has reverted to Letter.

Have you tried opening the printer in "Printers and Faxes" and changing the printer setting there?

    Re: Default paper size

I think we have two problems here. When you open the printer dialogue box you should get an option preferences, you can open via control panel>printers or in any application. You should be able to set the default page size there. However you mention Word, I would guess that you Normal.dot file is set to Letter. If you need help in changing the properties in normal.dot leave a post in that forum or search that forum as it has been discussed since the origin of the forum. I can remember it back with Word97.
