    Dunno (XP SP-2 )

I don't know where to put this question:

What does it mean... No, wait, I KNOW what it MEANS, but, how does having (or not) MS Server through your hosting service affect your site's performance, as opposed, (I guess) to Linux?

    Regards,

    Re: Dunno (XP SP-2 )

First of all, I meant to ask you this in the thread we had about Whois privacy and forgot. When I go to the URL you have in your Lounge profile, all I get is an empty white page, no 404 or underconstruction, or anything. Is that what you intended? Is the site under-construction? If you don't have an index file up there, you should make the URL more explicit so folks can see what you intended them to see.

Now, Whois indicates that your URL is served by POWWEB. Is that correct? I think the only answer I can give you to your question is that there are possibly some "languages" that you can or cannot use in your pages, depending on whether you're served by a *NIX server or something from Microsoft. If my (old) memory isn't failing, I think the reason I changed from a Linux system to a MS-based one was so I could use .ASP scripts, but I may have that all wrong.

    Al:

    Good Job!

I'm just now setting up new pages...

So if I'm not using ASP, Linux is fine?

Also, "1and1.com" -- seen first by me on Lockergnome -- is offering six months free, plus (to my novice mind) a great del more.

Is this a good deal? Good hostl(er)?

    Regards,
    Chuck
