    Outlook Contacts (MSO 2000/XP Home SP2)

    <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>
    I need to transfer the contacts from one computer to another. I seem to remember there is a relatively simple method involving one file but I'll be d***** if I can remember what the file is and where to find it...
    How about a little help for this ol'timer?

    Thanks for everything

    Try looking for a file with the ending PST in something like: Cocuments and Settings[username]Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook.

    Make sure that Control Panel|Folder Options is set not to hide file extension and to show hidden files and folders.

    Thanks ... however I can find NO INSTANCE of a file with the extension .pst anywhere on this machine!?!?!? I have looked by way of 'Explorer', I have run searches with *.pst and just pst, checked thru every folder I can find in 'Documents & Settings' for every user!
    My memory told me that the folder was a '.pst' but I sure cannot find any!!!

    HELP!!!

    "Make sure that Control Panel|Folder Options is set not to hide file extensions and to show hidden files and folders."

    Have you done this? It's under the View tab.

    The PST file lives (by default) in a folder that is "hidden". Also, do your search options include "Search Hidden Files and Folders"?

    Re: Outlook Contacts (MSO 2000/XP Home SP2)

    Thanks for the clarification. In Windows XP Professional - which is what I am using - the file only "disappears" when "Do not show hidden files and folders" is checked. The settings for "Display contents of system folders" and "Hide protected operating system files" have no impact whatsoever.
