Multiple Hyperlinks (MS Word 2000)

I am currently working on a document (manual) that has about 100 custom bookmarks through out the doc. I need to create hyperlinks to these bookmarks in multiple places through out the doc. Dose anyone know of a easier way to make a sentence a hyperlink than the normal way? I have a few hundred sentences that need to be turned into hyperlinks and it is taking me forever.

Perhaps this will get you moving in the right direction, if I'm understanding your question. This macro displays the Insert Bookmark dialog (listing all the bookmarks in the document). Selecting one and pressing "Add" turns the currently selected text into a hyperlink to that bookmark.

The Insert Bookmark dialog is pretty small, so a custom user form might be better suited for your needs, but the general algorithm would be very similar.

Sub MakeSelectionIntoHyperlink()

Dim sBookmarkName As String
Dim dial As Dialog
Dim sel As Selection
Set dial = Dialogs(wdDialogInsertBookmark)
Set sel = Selection

' Select the bookmark you want to use,
' and press the "Add" button to make the
' currently selected text a hyperlink
' to that bookmark.

If Not dial.Display = -1 Then Exit Sub

sBookmarkName = dial.Name

sel.Document.Hyperlinks.Add Anchor:=sel.Range, _
Address:=vbNullString, _
SubAddress:=sBookmarkName, _
ScreenTip:=vbNullString, _
TextToDisplay:=sel.Text

End Sub

Cheers,

If your hyperlink placeholder text is to be the same as the text it is linking to, then a fast way to add the hyperlink is to select the target text and then use the right mouse button to drag it to another location and choose the 'Create Hyperlink Here' from the context menu that appears.

This would be most useful in a split screen arrangement where you drag from one window to another.
