Faster Reboot (XP)

I noticed today that the folder
Cocuments and SettingsChris GreavesApplication DataRealRealPlayerHistory

contained nearly 4,000 entries, each of them a 2K shortcut. I suspect that this represents about 8MB of data that must be settled and then re-settled each time I RE-boot, that is, 8MB during shutdown, and another 8MB during power up while it is restored.

Now that I've deleted it, of course, I wish I'd kept it to analyse just what I've been listening too these past two months.

I'm waiting now to see (1) if I can reboot and (2) if it is any faster.

    allright AllRight!

I've renamed C:Program FilesReal to be C:Program FilesOldReal , fired up media player, set the buffering interval down to 10 seconds, cleared its history and told IT not to bother with history.

Life seems so much BETTER now ..... (grin!)
