Deleting values in a field (20)

I want to delete all the values in a single numeric field of a table either using code or using some kind of query. Short of pressing the delete key 5000 times there does not appear to be a simple way of doing this. You cant update a numeric field to a null value and i want all the values in all the other fields so a delete query is no good either. How can this be achieved?

It is possible to use an update query to set a numeric field to Null:
    - Create a query based on the table.
    - Add only the field to be cleared to the query grid.
    - Select Query | Update Query.
    - Enter Null in the Update to line for the field.
    - Select Query | Run or press the Run button (note: switching to datasheet view does not execute the update action, it only shows the present situation).
