    Column A not visible (xp)

On opening a workbook, I noticed that Column A was 'missing'. After selecting B1, I used the left arrow key and the name box showed A1 so I assumed I'd inadvertently either hidden the column or changed its width. I tried selecting the worksheet and unhiding columns (no luck) and tried changng the column width of the worksheet - again no luck. I know the column is there but I am unable to get it to appear. Has anyone encountered this behaviour, and if so, rectified it?
BTW, Column A contains important data.

    * click in the small square (select all) in the upper right corner of the sheet, where the row and column headers meet.
    * right click on the B in the header of column B and select unhide.

    Thanks for the input but no joy, I'm afraid. I assume you meant upper left corner. <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39> <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Are your panes frozen? (windows - unfreeze panes)

If you freeze the panes while some columns are "off screen" they are not hidden but unviewable

Thanks, Steve. I thought I was feeling a bit cold!! Problem now solved and a useful tip to remember for future reference.

    Yep.... ment my military left.

You would think that having experianced basic training (albiet a long time ago), one would not mess up on what way is left and which is right.
