Programming Powerpoint with VBA (Any from 2000)

I might have a need to program powerpoint from within other applications.

There is heaps of info in texts regarding programming most of the other applications,
    but diddly on Powerpoint VBA.

Any one got any suggestions for useful sources of examples or texts
    on programming powerpoint in VBA.

    Mucho Appreciation if you do
    Andrew

Programming one application from another (called Automation) consists of creating an application object for the target application, and using that to execute VBA statements. The Microsoft Office 2000 automation Help file explains the basics; it has two small PowerPoint examples.

Automating PowerPoint means that you have to become familiar with PowerPoint VBA, not the most intuitive of VBA dialects. You can find a lot of code samples on Shyam Pillai's Office Tips, VBA Section, and also on The PowerPoint FAQ List - see the Programming PowerPoint section.

Re: Programming Powerpoint with VBA (Any from 2000)

I do not think that there is a book for just PowerPoint programming, but most of the Microsoft Press books for Microsoft Office VBA have sections for PowerPoint. Don't worry about the version; PoPo has hardly changed: any of 97, 2000, 2002, or 2003 are usefull. The best one that I have is David Boctor's Microsoft Office 2000 Visual Basic for Application Fundamentals. Don't let the Fundamentals in the title confuse you, it's not a book for novices. It covers Object Models, Events, Controls, Automation, and even Com Add-ins with an emphasis on Integrated Office Solutions. See the table of contents . I think chapters 7 & 8 are exactly what you need. HTH --Sam
