Hebrew Language Pack

I notice when I click the lounge forum link I am being prompted to install a language pack for Hebrew. This is a new development. Any idea what is causing the prompt?
Thank you,

Very strange, what link are you clicking? What is the exact URL that it takes you to?

That's certainly a good link for the lounge, and it doesn't offer to install Hebrew when I go there! I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this maybe someone else will have a suggestion.

Stuart,

Thank you for checking the link. I see the lounge is international so I thught it might have something to do with supported other languages.

I wondered about that, but your profile is set to use English, and I don't think the lounge has a Hebrew option!

It wouldn't do any harm to delete any WOPR cookies that you have and try again. If you don't know how to do this then let us know what browser and version you are using and what operating system and version.

I know this will sound silly Carla, but in this day and age I don't think we can rule out any obscure possibilities. Have you run a malware scan with AdAware, Spybot or others; and maybe an AV scan? Wouldn't hurt, while you deleting cookies anyway...

Re: Hebrew Language Pack

I delete cookies about once a month, and run a scan from adaware, and another adware software weekly. I also have Norton anti-virus scan weekly. The Ad aware scan has occured since I have started seeing this message. I just deleted my cookies and still have the same message coming up. I thought it might be something the lounge was aware of as it is only appearing when I go to the lounge.
Any other ideas?

I had problems with this PC a couple of months ago when it was new. Every time I tried to go to the lounge I was redirected to a google mediapartners search. I am not sure how it got resolved. Claude was helping me with the problem and it cleared up.

Sounds to me like your computer is suffering a little neurosis at the moment, being confused about Perl web pages.

Try going to http://www.windowsupdate.com and download all patches, then reboot and see if the problem has gone.

Does it happen on all lounge links or just the one you gave. And, is there a different reaction between the two links below ?

Re: Hebrew Language Pack

Claude,

I went to the windows update site and downloaded a single update and rebooted the computer and I still have the same issue. I then used the links you provided and I only have the problem with the first link. The second one works fine. I can copy and paste the one you gave me into my favorites and all should be well.

As always someone at the lounge has the answer to all my questions.

Re: Hebrew Language Pack

Yes, I figured that

Anyway, what is happening is that your cache / temporary internet files are screwy. While the first link points you into exactly the same direction as the other one, it isn't "known" by your computer, so it has to go and grab the info afresh.

another solution would have been to try instead of:

http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/wwwthreads.pl

remove the www thus

http://wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/wwwthreads.pl

and I'm pretty sure that that would have done the trick as well.

My brain-dead ISP constantly has DNS problems (DNS-Dynamic Name Server) and quite often I have to switch between one or the other above links to get in here

Glad to hear it's fixed though.
Cheers, Claude.

Re: Hebrew Language Pack

Interesting enough, I have the same issue. I tried deleting my Internet Temp files and that didn't work. So I tried creating a new shortcut with the link without "www" as stated above. However the default name for the favorite appeared as "Hebrew Language Pack".
Very, very interesting....
