Error when converting an Acess97 database

I get the following error when trying to convert or open an Access97 database in Access2000.

The current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable this database.

The strange thing is that this is not a secured database and isn't on a network. Access 97 opens it on any machine without a problem.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Did you open the database exclusive? If not, you won't be able to convert it.

First, check and see if you have opened it exclusively. If this is the case and you are still receiving the message try this:

    1. Create a new Access 97 database.
    2. Import the objects from the troubled db into the new version.
    3. Try what you were doing before.

If you are still receiving the message or are unable to import the objects from the original db, you probably have an Access security issue.

Was opening in exclusive mode so that wasn't it. Created the new database and imported the objects & it worked like a champ. My thanks to both you and Charlotte for the help.
    Best regards,
