XP - includes 2000? (Win XP)

I had a new computer built by this young guy, and it's pretty slick, except...........
I seem to have a whole screen-full of stuff from Windows 2000, and wonder if this is normal, or did the kid get carried away?
Also, is it normal for a machine with 512MB of ram not able to read but 256???
I sometmes believe I'm not meant to own a computer - - this thing has gone into a death spiral already, and it's brand new!!
    Any answers will be appreciated

Hi rabee! I think we need some more information here! What sort of stuff? Can you attach a screenshot? Also, where are you checking for the amount of RAM? My Computer Properties, Task Manager, the BIOS?

Yeah, a screenshot would help a lot. Also, what did he give you for the OS - that is, did you get a Win XP CD with a MICROSOFT label on it? If you didn't get a CD for the OS you need to talk to the young man again.

Well, guys, I don't know what happened, but in trying to make a screen shot for you, the computer refuses to acknowledge ANYTHING 2000 today.
Is it possible that some stuff got screened out and deleted since I first saw it?????
At first, I was getting screens telling me that "2000 does not support this driver" - that was when I was installing the printer. After that, I tried the printer and it
worked normally! The same thing happened with Roxio CD and DVD creator 6........said it could not install it, then later, I tried and made several data CDs.
That's when I searched and found a screen-full of things listed as "2000. XXxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" (I was too dumb to make the screen shot then)
AFter that, I wrote the forum entry.
I still haven't tracked down the young guy who put the thing together, so the mystery continues...........but, without any documentation, sorry to say.
I'm assuming at this point that the problem has fixed itself???? Thanks again for the replies.
