    Request for forecasting tools! (Excel2000>)

    Hi all,
I was asked by someone for good links or info concerning forecasting in excel. The info I gave was not really sufficient, so I'd like to ask if anyone has some great utility downloads specifically for some forecasting tools/add-ins for excel. Maybe some links to some sites that explain excels current abilities to do forecasting too. I hope i'm making sense here.!

    tx

This is not something I typically use, but there are lots to be found if you google on:
    forecasting excel

And if you want <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>, you can get plenty using:
    forecasting excel free

Though perhaps others will post back with things they have used and have experience with...

For some good theoretical discussion on some of the techniques, you might check out the "National Institute of Standards and Technology" website. They have an Introduction to Time Series Analysis which can be used if you want to set up yourself in excel. Excel is not directly discussed, but their tables and calcs could be easily created in excel.

The theory might help you better judge the software you find so you can understand how the calcs are done...

Thanx steve...I did do a little research, but the reason for the post is to get some input from loungers that may have found one or two tools particularly useful in this field.
Thanx for your input though. i will take a squizz at your links and see what else is to offer in them
