What is this big space? (2003)

The attached Word template has a large blank space on the first page, and I cannot figure out why it's there. I hasten to add that I built this template from an existing document that was someone else's handiwork. I can see no page break or section break that would explain this gap. Neither do I see paragraph formatting (space after... or before...). The gap appears in Print Layout view; in Normal view, I don't see the gap, but I do see a fine dotted line at the place where the gap begins.

All of your heading paragraphs are set to "keep with next", which is forcing the text to do just that. Uncheck that setting in your Heading 2 paragraph style, and the layout will behave more sensibly.

Well, I'll be sheep-dipped! Thanks, Andrew!
