    SSN Format (Access 2K- Sp3)

    Hi Loungers,
I have 2 tables with SSN described as "Text, Length=11, editmask 000-00-0000". This imbeds the dashes into the ssn.
I now need to export selected fields of these tables to an Excel application that MUST NOT have the dashes.
Using a query or other mean, how can I drop the imbedded dashes?
    Thanks,

You can create a query based on one of the tables, with a calculated field:

    SSN: Left([NameOfTable].[SSN],3) & Mid([NameOfTable].[SSN],5,2) & Right([NameOfTable].[SSN],4)

where NameOfTable is the name of the table and SSN is the name of the text field. You can then export the query. Alternatively, you can export the table to Excel, then use Edit/Replace there to replace the dashes with nothing in the SSN column.

    Hans,
Thank you for your fast reply. I knew there must be several ways to do this but, I was not finding one.
    Thanks again
    Bob
